From an Ultraman with Love

From an Ultraman with Love

By Matt Bjorkman

Sakura sat outside her TARDIS on the dusty ground. She didn’t know where she was…and she really didn’t care. She just wanted time to think about recent events and relax.

From what she saw of the planet from orbit, this is nothing more then a dust ball hanging in space, once teeming with life, until an dirty atomic war reduced it to this…although the radiation was now gone, the planet was still uninhabited.

Sakura sighed and closed her eyes in quiet meditation. She was taught well in meditative techniques…so she didn’t see the blast of energy heading for the ground near her, until the dust hit her eyes.

“What the?” Sakura exclaimed as she got up and dusted herself off. The dust settled down to show two gigantic figures standing across from each other.

One was a giant, 40 meters tall or such, created entirely out of blue light. Sakura couldn’t help but compare it with the tales of the giants of light from ancient terran folklore. The other was larger, about 50 meters, and was of an insectiod type. It’s skin glistened in the sun, a black-gray-blue tone, it’s two red eyes circling menacingly at it’s opponent.

The giant waited only a moment before it charged rather tiredly, as Sakura noted it seemed to be worn down from earlier fights. The insect creature dodged easily and gave the giant a blast to the back.

The giant fell on its knees…and vanished. Sakura watched as the creature looked over at where it’s foe had been…and started to laugh. A laugh like nothing Sakura had ever heard before, echoing with malevolence and darkness. She held her hands over her ears as she watched the creature fly into the dark vortex of space.

“Hmm…I wonder where that thing is heading for” She said as she entered the TARDIS and locked the door.

“It’s headed for earth” a voice said from across the console.

Sakura wheeled around, running face to face with two tired eyes.

The man had injuries all over him as he put his hand thru his dusty blond hair. He wore a short mustache and beard and in a way looked a little bit like the male version of her aunt Matsumi, but just a little.

“…You’re bleeding on my TARDIS, you know that” Sakura said as she noticed the stream of red running down the man’s arm onto her console.

The Man started to talk, but swiftly passed out on the ground.

Sakura sighed and headed to get the med. kit.

The Man’s eyes fluttered and opened as he looked up at the ceiling and sat up.

“very interesting” Sakura said as she looked at the readings on her instruments.

The Man sat up and looked around. He was in a white room, decorated with some Victorian motif, but also included some signs of Edwardian decorations.

“Your body seems human, yet there are signs of alien life signs” Sakura looked rather bemused by this.

“….You have to head towards earth” The Man said in a rather serious tone.

Sakura paused. “alright…explain to me what I’m about to interfere” she said sitting next to her patent.

“My name is Matt Bjorkson..and I died 8/9/99.” Matt began to say.

Sakura bit her lip a little and listened calmly. “I was luckily brought back to life thanks to a being from the Planet Pi-99 in the M99 galaxy…an Ultraman.”

Matt stood up “I’m Ultraman Matt”

Sakura looked at Matt with a look her mother had once given her agent and pushed Matt back down.

“go on…” Sakura said as she sat back down.

Matt coughed a bit and continued. “about three months ago, we first came noticed a group of Baltan-seijins building up a small fleet of spaceships. An Invasion fleet. After chasing one of their spies to their ancient planet of origin”

Sakura muttered under her breath “of course…Baltan..I thought I recognized the planet..”

Matt continued, “well…I think you know the rest..”

Sakura stood up and hummed a little tune. “And…you want me to pilot my TARDIS in orbit with Earth, before the fleet can reach it..so you can defeat them and save the earth and blah blah blah…”

Matt looked a little confused but nodded as the sound of the TARDIS stopped.

Sakura smiled a bit as she headed to the console room followed closely by Matt.

“Where are w..” Matt stopped short as he saw the monitor.

They were slowly orbiting around Earth. He looked at Sakura.

“well…do you think I would just let something like that go without checking out where it was headed” Sakura laughed a bit.

Matt looked at the monitor and motioned to Sakura to watch.

In the darkness outside Earth, the Baltan-seijin flew into view, but this time it was not alone. Following it closely was about a dozen small ships.

“each of those ships could contain about a hundred or so Baltans” Matt said grimly.

Matt paused a bit and turned to Sakura “open the doors”

Sakura looked at him like he was crazy but paused and nodded. She made her way to the controls and looked at Matt briefly..Then opened the door, shutting off the force field at the same time.

Matt stood on the edge of the door as the vortex of space rushed at him. He raised one of his arms, and shouted “MAT-SU-TO!!!”

Sakura wasn’t sure what happened next. It was like a million suns burst as Matt vanished.

As the door closed, she looked at the monitor. The Baltan was now in battle with that same giant she saw on the planet, but this time she had a good look at him. His skin was a metallic silver, the sun shining off it like an enormous mirror. On some parts of his skin, red designs leading to a small round blue sphere on his chest. He was like some magnificent space god as he charged into battle against the space ninja.

Sakura leaned back on the console and bit her lip again. In a few mins it was over, as the Ultraman fired his rays at the Baltan, reducing it to a burning husk.

Ultraman Matt turned towards the TARDIS but we suddenly shot backwards.

The Ships! They had forgotten the Ships were still there!

the blue sphere on the Ultraman’s chest began to blink red, Sakura running over to the controls. She had always wanted to try this trick. She slowly built up the energy on the force field and suddenly expanded it, pushing the ships out into the outer reaches of the galaxy.

Ultraman Matt turned towards the TARDIS and gave Sakura a salute.

Sakura saluted back and smiled a bit. As she mulled over the controls, she noticed two things. 1. one of the TARDIS’s homing devices was missing, and 2. a long blue crystal sitting where the device had been.

Sakura picked it up with some curiosity…and her mind was instantly filled with images of a large blue planet far way, covered in blue crystals and home to highly evolved beings. The images faded as she shook her head. She once more looked at the monitor. The darkness of space was that accompanied the small blue green planet on the screen.

“What a nice vacation” She said with a laugh, as she reprogrammed the coordinates. As the TARDIS once more vanished, two red eyes watched it go.

The Baltan floated alone where it’s once mighty fleet had stood. “Aino Sakura…” It said, and proceeded to laugh.
