Era: Crystal Imperium - 3057 AD

Chibi-Usa, now Queen of Crystal Tokyo, tries her best to live up to the legend that her mom left behind.

Today’s the day I start acting like a grown woman. A grown 900+ year old woman, yes, but a woman nonetheless. Mom, you trained me well. I just hope I can live up to what you were.

“She’s all grown up now,” Ami responded, “and no longer the girl we once knew.”

“That’s good, Ami-chan,” Terra responded, “I just hope she does well her first day as Queen.”

Thanks to Ami’s brainwashing (and Sakura’s pills), Chibi-Usa is now the model woman that her mom wanted her to be, not some little kid who would turn tricks at the sight of a sexy man or horse.

I wish I could have been there, Terra, but Setsuna has called me away. Some sort of business. I promise that I will look in on her later.

“The Queen approaches!” The heralds shout.

Queen Lady Serenity, Black Lady Serenity, Neo Queen Serenity the Second… these are all the same person. Once Usagi left and resigned from the crown, it was only a matter of time before Chibi-Usa would take over. Sure, Usagi was not a good ruler, but Chibi-Usa thought she was just. Usagi might be the reason Chibi-Usa decided to take over. Queen Lady Serenity thought she could make a difference.

Mom was strong, and so must I be, the new Queen thought, looking over the crowd.

“Today, you are no longer under the oppressive rule of Setsuna, the royal consort. Today, a new age begins.” Chibi-Usa remarked.

There was a crowd, but not a huge one. If it was Usagi, it would have been larger. But, the new Queen did not care. She would rule fairly and justly, unlike Setsuna and her mom before her.

But what Usagi did for this world, how she created Crystal Tokyo… that still lingered over the new Queen. How can one live up to that?

“The first order of business is to ensure you that the strike that caused Setsuna to abdicate will be resolved peacefully. The shield that protected us from our enemies will be destroyed, and hopefully, new accords with our neighbors will be struck.”

The meager crowd cheered.

It’s a start, the new queen thought, but I need to do more.

Terra listened, knowing that Tux was not there to watch. She knew that he had been called away by Setsuna.

I hope he’s okay, Terra thought, as she listened.

“Let it be known that my mother, Neo-Queen Serenity, is welcome to return to this land at any time. She will not need to take the throne, though, as I am quite qualified to uphold the true position of ruler of Crystal Tokyo. I will listen to the people, and be a just ruler.” the new queen continued.

A smattering of boos at the mention of her mother, but some applause. It was a mixed reaction, but one that she could live with.

As Terra listened, Tux returned.

“Bad news,” Tuxedo Rainbow stated, “Setsuna has left her post.”

Terra sighed. “I take it we are to take over.”

Tux nodded.

“Tell the queen,” he stated, “ and I hope that Setsuna comes back shortly.”

Little did either one of them know that it would be a long time before Setsuna returned…

As the new queen ended her speech, the crowd applauded mildly. Terra asked to have a work with her, as Tux assumed Setsuna’s post in the Time Gate.

“She WHAT?” Black Lady Serenity shouted.

“Left, your grace,” Terra responded.

One day and I am already without a key advisor. Darn her! Chibi-Usa thought.

“Let her go for now,” the Queen stated, “if she is not back soon, we will start looking for her.”

“I see,” Terra stated, “Tuxedo Rainbow has taken over for now.”

“Make sure that he does not go crazy, Terra. You two are my link to my mother.” Chibi-Usa stated.

Terra nodded.

Chibi-Usa knew that even Setsuna was a legend, pone to doing things her own way. She knew that if Setsuna left, there had to be a reason. Chibi-Usa knew where mom and dad were, but did not tell Sailor Pluto, who still had a thing for Tuxedo Kamen. The new queen was long over her father, long over Helios.

She wanted a knight, like her mom, a real Knight, to become her king, not some dream world horse.

“Start a search for any new Knights,” Chibi-Usa advised Neptune, “And make sure that the most handsome of them are brought before me.”

Neptune nodded. The Queen knew that Neptune and Uranus were married and had children, but they had their duties as well. Duties to the crown, that all Senshi have.

My mom is a legendary figure, the new queen thought, one that I must emulate, but not copy. I must distinguish myself from her.

As the first days passed, it became clear that indeed, Chibi-Usa was a just ruler. She negotiated a peace treaty with the nearby colonies of Tokyo - 3 and Akira. She mad sure her people were well taken care of. She halted the rule of home education, citing her past, but not divulging it in public. All seemed peaceful on the outside, but inside the castle, she was angry. Angry, that Setsuna was gone. Angry that her mother caused all this. Angry that she could no longer talk to Hotaru.

“Start a global search for Setsuna,” the new Queen advised, “and if she is not here, check Charon Castle, check the entire Sol System. If she is not here, we begin a search of time.”

She dispatched no senshi that were powerful, but enough senshi to find her. She wanted to show that she was strong, even during this time.

“Your grace,” Terra responded, “I worry for my husband. He’s not himself.”

The Queen nodded.

“I know, Terra,” Queen Lady Serenity stated, “it’s that blasted door. It does things to people, the longer they stay near it. I will find Setsuna, wherever or when ever she is.”

“I will take over for a bit,” Terra stated.

Tux walked out, sighing.

“You will find her?” Tuxedo asked the new queen.

“I hope so, Tuxedo Rainbow,” Chibi-Usa stated.

But, Setsuna wasn’t found. Tux stayed behind, and Terra knew that things would get worse.

Days later, several attempts at the new Queen’s life had failed by merely the slightest of margins.

Terra knew that Tux was behind them all.

“For your safety, I suggest you leave the castle,” Terra responded.

“Nonsense,” Chibi-Usa stated, “I know that Tux has gone crazy. From here, I can try to save him.”

“I only worry about you,” Terra remarked, “and what is left of Tux.”

Silently, the new Queen wondered if this is what her mother had to go through when she created the home schooling rule, or if this is what Setsuna had to go through when she was ruler. Two legends, in their own right, but even these legends fell. Neo-Queen Serenity fell to the pressure, Setsuna fell to the strike of her people. Queen Lady Serenity was going to ride this out. She would not fall like her previous rulers, she would not be a legend like that. She would tough it out and prove that she could survive this all, and be a legend in the eyes of her people.

Terra was not worried. Well, she was, but never showed it to her Queen. She knew that some legends are best left buried, but this legend, this Queen, this Chibi-Usa who was ruler, would be a legend for being a just ruler. Even if Tux would give up and become insane, even if Setsuna did not return, this Queen was a Queen that Terra would like to be with, as a friend and confidant. This, this is the stuff of legends.

Tux didn’t care. He didn’t know when Setsuna would return, he cared little for his former wife. All he had left, other than his failed plans to take over the throne, was the Door. He could watch the past, see the future… do whatever he wanted, but not interfere. No more would he try to take the throne. NO more would he plan to do anything stupid. No, let the Queen have her legendary status. Let Terra look up to her.

For, he knew, that by trying to kill a legend, he would become a legend himself. He would write down this in his diary, and hope that when Setsuna returns, she knew that this was the Age of Legends.
